Get a free Skinstrack API key

Sign in with Steam on skinstrack.com and create a key in the dashboard. The free plan gives 50 requests a month on Steam prices with no card. Paid plans from $24.99 a month unlock all 34+ marketplaces. Keep the key in an environment variable, never in source code.

    terminal
    bash
    export SKINSTRACK_API_KEY=your-api-key
  2. 2

Call the free Steam prices endpoint

The free endpoint returns every CS2 item that has a current Steam Community Market price. It is the cheapest way to check the response shape.

    terminal
    bash
    curl "https://api.skinstrack.com/v2/free/items" \
      -H "X-API-KEY: $SKINSTRACK_API_KEY"
  3. 3

Get one skin across every marketplace

With a paid key, ask for a single item by slug or market hash name. Each entry in prices is one marketplace with its own updated_at, so you always know how fresh each number is. Add currency to convert every price.

    terminal
    bash
    curl "https://api.skinstrack.com/v2/paid/item/ak-47-redline-field-tested?currency=EUR" \
      -H "X-API-KEY: $SKINSTRACK_API_KEY"
  4. 4

Pull many items from chosen markets

The list endpoint returns every tracked item in one call. Narrow it to the marketplaces you care about and add 7 to 90 day averages and price changes.

    terminal
    bash
    curl "https://api.skinstrack.com/v2/paid/items?providers=csfloat,buff163,skinport&avg=true&changes=true" \
      -H "X-API-KEY: $SKINSTRACK_API_KEY"

Example response

Shortened response from /v2/paid/item/{itemName}. Field names are snake_case and every marketplace price has its own updated_at. Full schemas are in the Skinstrack API docs.

Frequently Asked Questions

CS2 skin prices, the Skinstrack API and the tools around it.

Which header does the Skinstrack API use for authentication?

Every request sends the key in the X-API-KEY header. There is no OAuth flow and no request signing.

Can I pass a market hash name instead of a slug?

Yes. /v2/paid/item/{itemName} accepts either the slug (ak-47-redline-field-tested) or the URL encoded market hash name (AK-47 | Redline (Field-Tested)).

What happens when I run out of requests?

Quotas are monthly. Once the quota is used the API answers with HTTP 429 until the next period or until you upgrade on skinstrack.com/api-pricing.
